Funding & Projects

We have since the very beginning received funding for a range of projects aimed at developing The Club and The Tool.

Additionally we have also received funding or been involved in other research projects targeted at sustainable solutions.

Funding Program: Horizon Europe

Timeline: 2025 - 2028

GPC Allocation: €417.000

GPC Role: Work Package Leader (WP4)

StreamSCAPES is an innovative European research initiative working to establish next-generation sustainability frameworks for the digital media landscape.

Collaborating alongside the University of Liège (Belgium) and an international consortium, Green Producers Club is spearheading the practical evaluation of green tech tools across the European media sector.

As the official Work Package Leader for WP4 (LabSCAPES), our core responsibility is to bridge the gap between scientific theory and real-world application. We achieve this by rigorously testing and validating sustainable solutions within Video-on-Demand (VOD) and digital streaming ecosystems.

Deliverables

Production & Streaming Clinics

Conducting real-world "clinics" with creators, VOD platforms, policymakers, and environmental experts to evaluate the practical impact of green software.

Refining the Green Producers Tool

Utilising field data and user feedback to develop and implement advanced, next-generation tracking features within our tool, including AI document reading.

Developing the Green Streaming Tool

Create a new Tool to measure streaming. Co-developing and testing brand-new streaming methodologies to capture and minimise virtual, digital, and AI-driven emissions.

EU Compliance Notice: New features of the Green Producers Tool have been developed as part of the EU-funded StreamSCAPES project. For further information, please contact mads@greenproducers.club

Sustainability Certification

Funding Program: Creative Europe, Innovation Lab

Timeline: 2026 - 2027

GPC Allocation: €600.000

GPC Role: Coordinator

Originating from a 2024 collaboration with the International Documentary Film Festival (IDFA) and the Norwegian Film Institute (NFI), this project scales the specialized Sustainability Standard for Film Festivals (BSFF) into a universal certification framework.

Unlike traditional environmental audits, this holistic standard incorporates Social Sustainability (diversity, accessibility, and working environments), Venue Mapping and a unique "Brain Print" category that evaluates how cultural platforms amplify environmental advocacy. The 2026 - 2027 pilot evaluates whether this rigorous system can serve as a seamless, industry-wide certification standard across the entire cultural sector.

The pilot features over 20 core participants testing cross-sector viability, including confirmed sustainability pioneers like Øyafestivalen, Norway Cup, Iceland Airwaves, FIS, and the Fredrikstad Animation Festival.

Deliverables

System Digitisation

Transitioning the certification from offline documentation into an accessible digital system. This phase is to build a universal model that translates smoothly to all sectors involved

Multi-Sector Deployment

Deploying the digital standard across a diverse network of 20+ pilot organisations from August to December. This phase maps the time used for implementation and collects data on how the organisations handle the verification.

Review & Scheme Launch

Reviewing all submitted pilot documentation in early 2027 to refine the verification criteria. The project concludes by awarding the first official certifications, followed by the public launch of the scheme for members and non-members.

EU Compliance Notice: The development and cross-sector piloting of the Culture Sustainability Certification scheme is co-funded by the European Union under the Creative Europe Innovation Lab program. As the official Project Coordinator, Green Producers Club leads the international framework implementation. For further information, please contact marthe@greenproducers.club

Material Guide Vol. 2

Funding Program: Kulturrom

Timeline: 2026 - 2027

GPC Allocation: 250.000 NOK

GPC Role: Coordinator

Building on the initial technical equipment guide launched with support from Kulturrom in 2023, Material Guide Vol. 2 is an expansion designed to meet the evolving needs of the creative industries.

Our mission is to give the creative industry a practical, research-based tool for sustainable production. By expanding our current guide to include materials like textiles, wood, and metals, we are creating a universal standard for the cultural sector.

We aim to provide a free digital platform that promotes local sourcing, reuse, and professional competence.

Deliverables

User Mapping

Conducting user interviews to diagnose exactly why the previous guide fell short in daily operations. Ensuring the new digital solution is built with the end user in mind.

Expanding The Guide

Upgrading the guide beyond technical gear to include materials (e.g. textiles, wood, metals) and knowledge about circularity.

User Testing & Open Access

Testing with key partners to optimise the user experience. The finalized tool will be published globally for free in English and Norwegian.

Funding Acknowledgment The expansion and digital development of the Material Guide is supported by Kulturrom, aimed at driving circularity and reducing unnecessary procurement across the cultural field.
