Oslo, 6 May 2026 -Green Producers Club (GPC) announces a new European collaboration project supported by the Creative Europe Innovation Lab, aimed at accelerating green and digital innovation across Europe’s cultural and creative industries. This is Green Producers Club’s third Creative Europe Innovation Lab project, supporting sustainable cultural production and GPC’s expansion beyond the Nordic region, with the overall goal of reducing emissions across the cultural and creative sectors.
The project brings together leading partners from Norway, Denmark, Finland, Ukraine, Slovenia, Hungary and Latvia to develop, test, and deploy an advanced solution for sustainable cultural production, strengthening cross-border collaboration and cross-sector knowledge exchange across Europe.
“By creating strong cross-border synergies, this project represents an important step toward making sustainable production the new standard across Europe’s cultural and creative sectors. By combining climate science, industry collaboration, and advanced AI technology, we are equipping producers with practical tools that enable real emission reductions while strengthening innovation and competitiveness across the sector.”
- Marthe Haakensen, CEO of Green Producers Club.
At the core of the initiative is the further development of the Green Producers Tool (GPT), a research-based climate accounting platform co-developed with CICERO - Center for International Climate Research. The tool enables producers in film and TV, festivals, performing arts, events, museums, and sports to calculate, plan, report, and reduce emissions throughout the entire production lifecycle.
The project will deliver three main outcomes by 2027
A developed, tested, and validated AI-enhanced version of Green Producers Tool
A standardised certification model with verifiable proof of compliance
Cross-border and cross-sectoral Green Producers Club hubs.
The consortium is coordinated by Green Producers Club AS (Norway) and includes Kristiania University of Applied Sciences , The Norwegian National Opera & Ballet, Banijay Finland , and Nafta Films. Additional partners across Europe include Sziget Cultural Management Ltd., NOSOROGI, Lviv Bureau of European Integration/ Львівське бюро євроінтеграції, Green Producers Club (Denmark), and the technology partner Innocode.
Reflecting on the importance of the initiative for large-scale cultural events, Sziget Festival’s Sustainability Team highlights the project’s practical impact:
“We trust that with this project we can understand and manage our environmental impact better. Through more focused actions to reduce emissions on fields within our direct control, we hope to involve and inspire stakeholders and visitors to join our efforts leading to the reduction of indirect emissions.”

The Green Producers Club network already connects more than 600 organisations, including leading European cultural institutions and media companies. Through shared tools, green guidelines, and regular cross-industry exchange, the network promotes circular practices, climate literacy, and collaborative innovation.
Building on two previous Creative Europe Innovation Lab initiatives, the new project scales a proven Nordic model to a broader European ecosystem. The long-term objective is to deliver measurable emission reductions by 2030 and support Europe’s cultural sector in reaching net-zero emissions by 2050.
Partners from across Europe emphasise the importance of adapting the initiative to local contexts while strengthening European cooperation.
“Through the Green Europe project, we aim to integrate sustainable practices into Ukrainian cultural production by adapting the Green Producers Tool for local festivals such as Molodvizh. This collaboration builds our capacity for EU-aligned climate action, fostering green innovation and cross-border resilience in Europe's creative sectors.”
